My brother, who has tried to singlehandedly run Mindrimon's dire international problems, has developed a mental illness under all the stress. In a fit of frustration, he destroyed all the records that he has written beginning in June (early in June, the United Kingdom claimed part of the northern coast of the island). Once I got wind of his condition in Lithuania, I put aside my past shame and decided to step back into the country we founded. That was a month ago, and since then I have been working with NATO night and day to make a deal on the ownership of the island.

I am now overjoyed to report that my efforts this month have put order into the mess this phenomenon has created. It has been made official, yesterday, that every country that claimed a piece of the island will keep a piece. However, a great percent of the land we lost has been returned to us. Mindrimon now makes up nearly seventy-five percent of the mainland, as opposed to twenty-five before I started negotiating. I think that the people have accepted me back for my success with this compromise. My head feels empty at the moment, as the idea of this turmoil being over has not gotten to me yet. All that is in my mind now is to sleep for a week to recover from a month of sleepless nights. This is the political map that was agreed on yesterday:

Ian is currently in bed, and it does not look like he will be well in the near future. I have not written any complete entries into the records because I have been totally overwhelmed by recent events. Lets start off by saying that the rumors were correct. One by one, our island has been divided by three other nations, Germany, Norway, and Denmark. I have had to scramble to each location to stop their advancing borders. One case in which I was too late was when Germany penetrated our borders all the way up to the northern coast. Take a look at a map of the island not:

We dare not make a move to retrieve our borders in fear of a major international incident. The Icelandic government has warned us not to take any actions without their approval. haha

I really wish Hans was here because this is definitely not a one man job. He has not been back on the island since the first mistake he made when dealing with The Netherlands. In fact, he has fled the coastal waters and now takes refuge in Lithuania where our uncle's family lives. I hope that he was here, for I still believe that he is a better politician than I am.

For now we wait.
- Ian Mindrim

-- Mindrim expedition recordsCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-12602239044028507582008-05-01T11:19:00.000-07:002008-07-26T08:06:37.321-07:00Perspective I1 May 2008

Today we bitterly reflect on Hans' deal as we receive some new maps of the island in perspective to the rest of the North Sea. When he told us he had given the peninsula, we though he meant the small one, not the entire southwest section of the island. He also threw in the southeast islands as a deal sweetener - totally unnecessary. Nearly everyone is about the revolt, and Hans had to hide away on his boat to escape being mobbed. Another concern this brings up is the the threat of other nations being encouraged to colonize the island. Seeing the vast amount of land Hans gave the Dutchmen right away, they might be tempted to try the same thing. I don't even know what we will do if they do.

On a bit brighter note, we have officially starter building permanent structures in the basecamp. Also Some have started building a new, permanent town further east along the coast, since that area seems very good to settle in.
- Ian Mindrim

-- Mindrim expedition recordsCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-70409527693864854402008-03-28T06:20:00.000-07:002008-06-11T10:11:04.976-07:00Confrontation and Discovery26 March 2008

Hans has called us this morning to tell us about the outcome of his visit to the southwest part of the Island. The news is not good. He met a group of 45 Dutchmen who have indeed settled on that part of the island. More over, they have officially claimed the island! Hans could not accept this, so he made a deal with them to let them keep the area around their camp (we will have to wait until he gets back for the precise map). He made this decision by himself because he feared that the Dutchmen would not accept his offer if it was made any later.

Everyone was shocked and outraged by this news. Some blamed Hans for not consulting everyone first, but I, for one, see his reasons. Frans Derzit is worried that his early prophecy about international war may be coming true. I dearly hope we can settle this peacefully.
- Ian Mindrim

-- Mindrim expedition records

28 March 2008
The search team for the lost submarine Manta Ray was found near the northern coast of the North Sea Island. When scientists first saw what looked like the tail end of a submarine on the sonar screen, they were in disbelief. The front end seemed not to be broken off, but buried in the ocean floor. Further investigation by a submersible identified that the submarine was swallowed up by a thick blanket of volcanic rock. Some say that this gives even more proof of the layer theory concerning the creation of the island. The United States authorities have not made a statement about the find, but one of their vessels was spotted near the spot. This has lead some to speculate that the U.S. had already known about the location for some time, just had not revealed it.

-- Norwegian newspaper excerptCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-64302725448762893442008-03-23T05:48:00.000-07:002008-06-11T10:12:15.183-07:00Swarm23 March 2008

Many days ago, Franse Derzit's expedition came back with huge findings and conclusions. This event has triggered a swarm of researchers form many countries to come here and study this island. Our population has more than double, and we allow almost everyone who wishes to enter our camp. We have also heard rumors that a team from the Netherlands has decided to take their own peace of the island. The rumors tell that they have made their own camp on the South West part of the island. As we have not formally claimed this land, it seems we are going to have to start. We have sent a team led by Hans to investigate this rumor. On the bright side, many different expeditions are coming and going and bringing us much information about the island. A surveying team from Great Britain has given us a rough map of the elevation levels. Here is a copy of it:

It turns out that our small island has some pretty high peaks. The tallest is 3129 meters tall (about 9000 feet). We had only found out about the two massive lakes a few days ago. We guess that this water was trapped my the island's chaotic formation from the ocean, since the water in them is not fresh, but saline.

Our population as of today is 215 individuals, not including the rogue Netherlands team or the ones that are camping away from the central base of operations. I have stopped marking individual reasons of entrance and departure. There has been so much coming and going that a single man can not keep track of all of it.
- Ian Mindrim

-- Mindrim expedition recordsCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-39696903005950147572008-03-06T17:03:00.000-08:002008-05-24T17:41:35.777-07:00Looking Further II01 March 2008

Today is the two month anniversary of humans visiting this remarkable island. We have definitely noticed changes here since we first landed. More and more birds are being seen near and around our camp, and we have caught fish just off the coast. The planting mission is doing very well, also. We already have many young plants in our planting grounds. Some saplings have grown also, and we have marked the first one that came up as a major historic event (27 February). The garden around the Merchevic monument is blooming spectacularly. We are all very pleased with the island's progress.
- Hans Mindrim

06 March 2008

Frans Derzit has declared his findings to the world today! We have all been anxiously waiting for his conclusions ever since he got back, five days ago. He has refused to let anyone outside of his team anywhere near his tent. It has pushed Hans to the brink of explosion. He seems to be the most anxious out of all our party.

Anyway, back to the report! Derzit has gathered that the jets of steam and water on the interior of the island are newly forming geysers. They are greater than any others seen on earth because of the strange formation of the island. According to widely accepted hypothesis, a huge magma chamber bellow the surface burst all at once, creating the huge peace of land. The eruption was not a single vertical uprising, but a series of huge blankets which trapped large amounts of water under them. Heat from the magma still underground heated this trapped water to great temperatures until the pockets exploded upward through the surface. It is predicted that many of these pockets of super heated water have yet to erupt, so settling further inland should be postponed. The expedition has not come across constant geysers, which makes sense since no aquifers could have been formed yet. These findings confirm the island's volcanic origin.
- Ian Mindrim

-- Mindrim expedition recordsCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-85289442551726626402008-02-19T17:19:00.000-08:002008-08-09T18:40:03.008-07:00Looking Further I17 February 2008

Frans Derzit has arrived this morning at the camp. He seems very eager to start exploring and researching the geysers on the island. His arrival has given a boost to our moral as I had expected. The group finally seems content with the completion of a monument to the Merchevics. It stands on the site of the family's camp close to the ocean. My planting campaign has resumed. Finally!
- Hans Mindirm

19 February 2008

Derzit and his group of scientists have set out on a study of the geysers. They hope to prove the theory that magma created the island. I just hope nothing happens to them while they conduct their observations.

Adam seems to be recovering nicely after the tragedy. He is more social now, and talks about what happened. A friend of the Merchevics has taken him under his wing. I do hope he recovers fully.

Here is our population count as of today: Since January 17th, twenty-seven have joined us. Geyser explosion took six, and two others left because of fear of the incident. Derzit's group has arrived with nine members, including himself, making the total count one-hundred and three.
- Ian Mindrim

-- Mindrim expedition recordsCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-14188292380692234142008-02-13T13:41:00.000-08:002008-05-09T14:03:35.967-07:00Grief13 February 2008

We are still mourning our loss. Adam seems better than before, but still very unresponsive. I am trying to get the group back together and continue our planting mission. One individual that I am very frustrated with is Ian. He is a leader and should act like one. At the very least, he could honor the Merchevic's wishes. I am sure that, being the pioneers the Merchevics were, they would not want us to linger around grieving over them. They would want us to continue with what they worked so hard for.

We got word that the scientist Frans Derzit is going to come to our island. He has been interested by the geyser activity reported to have killed Adam's family. He has told us that he believes this is definite proof of volcanic activity. More will be explained and discovered later. We have not brought all of our equipment on to land yet, as we are not sure if the shore is hospitable enough yet. The Merchevics were the first to dare move inland further than a few miles. Today, they made a five hour hike to explore the island further. They report level plains first, and rolling hills later. They say it was like God had made a ready place to live, just forgotten to make is hospitable. They have found no vents or magma as the volcanic theory would suggest. However, we are all very excited.
- Ian Mindrim

17 January 2008

We have finished setting up our air-tight tents on the shores of the island. Tonight will be the first night we spend on the island itself. Some of the group has started planting trees and shrubs, as the earth is not rock, but dirt. We shall see if the plants grow or not. Ian has done testing of the soil and found that it contains organic compounds. How this came to be, we still don't know. The Merchevics seem to be the trail blazers in the fleet, having gone on their third expedition today. Several others have made expeditions also. We plan to have a massive trip inland soon all together.

Of the seventy of us that came, fifteen have joined us and two have departed because of breathing problems. Encouraged by the recent German expedition, a group of fishermen from Iceland have made a permanent base of operations on the island's shore as they explore the island's inland. Most national science foundations believe that the conditions are still not stable enough for deep exploration such as the Icelanders are performing. However, the new land is at present unclaimed, so there are no regulations.
The explorers are lead by the brothers Ian and Hans Mindrim. In a brief interview, Hans stated, "All of my party members know the dangers of this unexplored land, but we are all drawn by pure curiosity. We see this new land as an opportunity for a new start and new discoveries." So far, there have been no reported findings or casualties from the group. As safety measures, the group wears gas masks and protective clothing.

The search for the missing submarine, Manta Ray, is still underway. The US has openly announced its massive search operation. No hazardous material has been reported in the Sea thus far.

-- United Kingdom newspaper excerptCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-68700448221544584762008-01-02T12:50:00.000-08:002008-03-25T13:22:47.693-07:00First Contact2 January 2008
On New Year's day, a group of our scientists where the first to set foot on the new island north west of our coast. They where not able to stay on the island for long and had to wear heat resistant clothing, as ground is still scotching hot. The vapor has cleared just enough to sail through. Rock samples where collected and are being closely observed in laboratories. So far, the samples confirm the popular theory of volcanic activity. Here is some things that a member of the voyage has to say about his voyage:
"It looked like a great mass of charred rock and dusk. We where covered in steam as we sailed close... such a desolate land I have never seen... We couldn't move far inland because of the intense heat and awful fumes."

As of now, the Norwegian search team has not found any trace of the hazardous submarine. A German search party has been dispatched to aid the Norwegians.

- German newspaper translated excerptCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-7436672713649623862007-12-27T15:30:00.000-08:002008-04-26T17:30:38.131-07:00The Origin27 December 2007
The chaos of the tidal wave that barraged our western coastline is still present. Aid from inland and other countries is helping to relocate the survivors to temporary camps and shelters. Damage costs are being estimated at 200 billion pounds. However, the damage could be even more devastating. The flooding was nothing compared to what could be expected from such an event. This leads to the question, How did this island form?

Experts have been debating and studying data recorded and observed at the time of the formation of the island. A key detail is an unusual recording on our earthquake censors. A sharp and precise "pop" was recorded. This leads experts to the theory that a kind of rock or metal barrier under or on the ocean floor popped under the pressure of a building bubble of magma that was always present but never before registered. This lead to a great expulsion or rock from the depths of the sea. This theory does not explain the lack of a large tsunami, however. For further verification, scientists will have to set foot on the island, which is still impossible dew to the scorching steam that restricts entrance.

-- United Kingdom newspaper excerptCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112998196159375571.post-814872075890551062007-12-25T17:20:00.000-08:002008-04-26T17:30:11.154-07:00Bits and PiecesDecember 25, 2007
A fate of the US nuclear submarine "Manta Ray" which patrolled the North Sea just before the cataclysm remains unknown. Radio contact was broken two minutes prior to the event and wasn't restored since then. Satellite and echo-locater scans of the area were not able to locate the vessel either. The US military officials are refusing to reveal number of nuclear weapons on board until the fate of the submarine is fully determined...

Norwegian authorities announced that they are sending a scientific vessel "Fram" under convoy of two destroyers into the area of the cataclysm. Reports on the event variate from a blinding flash on the horizon to a sea monster duel. So far, countries are only guessing at the origins of this massive island's appearance. As an after effect of the event, tidal waves have barraged the European Coast, Great Britain and even parts of Iceland. The damage has dealt billions of dollars in damage to the affected countries. However, the floods where not as intense as would be expected from sure a mass or new land. The United States and many countries are sending aid to the devastates coastlines. Experts have been sent to investigate the island's origins. As of now, the best explanation is the hand of God.

As many try to recover from the shock or this phenomenon, some nations are turning their attention to the potential of this island. Concerns have been expressed about the ownership of the island. Frans Derzit, a British scientist, states "The European supper powers will fight over possession of this new land. If we do not reach an agreement, rebellion may break out!". Most, however, agree that the present problem should be addressed first.

-- U.S.A. newspaper excerptCremlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09503821697909678021noreply@blogger.com0
